Dear SRLA Families,

Welcome Back!

I hope you enjoyed a wonderful summer! I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready as we start a new school year. I am delighted that you are part of our amazing school community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you and your children.

Summer Update!

We are well on our way to another incredible and productive school year. Our incredible skilled and devoted staff has worked tirelessly planning and preparing for your child (ren). Danny and Vanessa have been busy registering new families, ordering needed books and materials and updating student files. Mr. Miller has been hard at work transferring students within PowerSchool and creating student emails. Johnny, our incredibly hard-working custodian, has been busy all summer long thoroughly cleaning the facility and painting, refinishing and cleaning our school.

This September, our new HSA Board started off the school year with great enthusiasm, caring and love. Members include Mary Uzzolino, President, Sarah Kammerer, 1st Vice President, Cyndy Benjamin, Treasurer, Diana Ceron, Secretary, Cindy Clesca, Communications, Amy Cramer, Class Parent Coordinator, Afrore Gjergjizi, Raven Rundown & Social Media Manager. Thank you, thank you, thank you! 

They also planned to welcome new families in person this Sunday, September 7th from 1:00-3:00 pm in the playground!!! Join us if you can!

Please look out for their notes providing everyone volunteer opportunities and offer other exciting events and programs throughout the school year. We at SRLA are a faith-based community of learners changing the world through a clear vision of our Catholic approach to education.

Thank you to all who are helping to prepare for the 2025-2026 school year. Your commitment to insuring that SRLA remains a celebrated and successful school is awe inspiring. I love greeting each student and family once again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal. Please feel free to say hello and share with me whatever may be on your mind. The HSA is planning to bring back the Coffee and Conversation series and I, for one, am thrilled!

I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for each one of our students.

SRLA was working hard this summer to make sure this year is an incredible one for your children. Upon drop-off our kids were greeted with big waves and even bigger hugs, by our brand new Raven mascot. Inside, they had a new mural, painted by our very own HSA president, Mary Uzzolino. To top it off, they had colorful balloon displays, lovingly assembled and donated by Phillippe Clesca. Thank you Phillippe! The tone was set for the kids and our teachers to have an incredible year!

WELCOME BACK RAVEN NATION!

We love our sports at SRLA, and it’s Cross Country season!

If your child/children are interested in running with us this fall please watch out for the registration email this Monday! 

A little overview of what our season will look like, below:

Cross Country Team (XC)

The XC season runs from September until early November. The workouts consist of stretching, strength exercises, wind sprints, and kids running their meet distance twice to build stamina. We practice at Meisel Ave Park, Springfield, NJ. Practice schedule will be included in the registration email.

XC is open to grades K through 8.

K, 1st and 2nd grade athletes participate in a non-competitive half-mile fun run at the beginning of each meet. 3rd grade and up participate in timed, competitive divisions as follows (These distances and grouping may vary based on the different meets we participate in):

• JV Division – 3rd and 4th grades – ¾ mile

• JV Division – 5th and 6th grades – 1.25 miles

• Varsity - 7th and 8th grades – 1.8 miles

PLEASE NOTE: Parents or caregivers of children in K-2nd grade who are participating must remain at practice and keep an eye on their children at all times.

NEW UNIFORM RULES

Starting this year, on days the children attend mass they must wear their proper school uniform. Please do NOT wear gym uniforms, even if you have gym that day. This coming Monday the students will attend mass.

Volunteering is a magical thing for our school community - we simply can't be SRLA without the help of our wonderful parents! Volunteering not only puts a smile on your child’s face, but it’s also a great way to connect to other adults in the school. So, grab a friend and help lead an event you love, or try something new!

PLEASE NOTE: Volunteering is mandatory for all St.Rose parents.
