RED RIBBON WEEK

A Visit from Officer Dundon

On Wednesday, SRLA welcomed Officer Dundon from the Millburn Police Department for a special Red Ribbon Week assembly. He spoke with students in grades K–8 about online safety, protecting personal information, and handling interactions with strangers on the internet.

Officer Dundon also discussed bullying, both in person and online, reminding students that “kindness is free, and that’s the way to go!” He touched on recognizing right from wrong, understanding that online actions are never truly anonymous, and being aware of how AI can be used to mislead people. The discussion ended with reminders about bike and street safety, always wearing a helmet, looking both ways, and making eye contact with drivers before crossing.

To thank Officer Dundon for his time and insight, students will create drawings and write thank-you letters in class.

CROSS COUNTRY

7th Annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel All Hallows Invitational

On Oct 25, 2025, the SRL cross country team tackled their biggest meet yet this season at the 7th annual OLMC invitational. More than 300 runners participated across 6 events. The meet was held at the Central Park of Morris County, a 420-acre sports complex.

A total of 19 schools and parishes were represented at the race from across the area. SRL had 6 competitors across 3 events: Madison Keller and Jade Gianetti running the 1k girls 3rd and 4th grade race. Aviv Strelzik and Andrew Keller running the 1K boys 3/4grade race. And, River Chambers and Joey Gianetti running the 2K 5/6 grade race.

Tensions were high with the level of competition at this race. Each event had between 50 to 60 students at the starting line.

It was a beautiful day to be at the course - with temperatures around 60 degrees and sunny skies.

With this being the 4th meet this season, the SRL team are finding their groove. All of the Ravens showed true heart throughout the day. River Chambers had the fastest time by posting a 8:06 min mile for his course.

The Central Park trails are complex and challenging with numerous uphill battles and tricky terrain.

Unfortunately, the Ravens didn’t score points for this invitational - however, this is only the first time this has occurred this season.

The team is focused and excited for the championship meet on Nov 9 at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, NJ.

Thank you!

Neil Chambers

Cross Country Coach
