Halloween Candy Collection

Collecting Candy Monday, November 1st – Wednesday, November 3rd

SRLA Social Outreach will be collecting Halloween candy donations from SRLA families for the Sisters of St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, NJ.

**Please secure (tie-up, tape) bags of candy and instruct your children not to eat the candy when bringing it to school. We want to make sure that our children with allergies are protected from peanut candies!! To protect the recipients, please send sealed candy only!

Student Council Is Back!

On Thursday, students in Grades 5 through 8 heard speeches from their classmates running for positions on this year's Student Council. Voting will take place on Election Day, November 2. Good luck, candidates!

We're partnering with Charleston Wrap to raise funds in support of our 8th Grade class—there are tons of great gifts, wrapping paper, and all the fixings to get you ready for the upcoming holiday season and beyond!

SRLA Christmas Gift Giving Program

A years-long tradition at St. Rose of Lima Academy, our Christmas Gift Giving Program ensures that there is at least one present under the tree for the children of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newark and the seniors and families of St. Joseph’s Social Service Center in Elizabeth.

There are three ways for SRLA families to participate. Please sign up via Signup Genius by Monday, November 8.

1. Buy gifts for children.

You will be provided with the name, age, and gender of each recipient of your donated gifts. Please budget $35 per gift, and drop off wrapped gifts between November 29 and December 6.

2. Send in a monetary donation.

Donations will be used by our "Volunteer Shoppers" to buy toys, coats, scarves, and mittens, to name a few of the requests we often receive from the children! Please make donations as soon as possible through SmartTuition.

3. Volunteer to be a "shopper."

Our "volunteer shoppers" are provided with a very specific wish list to purchase 5 (or more) gifts with donated money, and will be reimbursed.

Annual H.S.A. Dues

Every year, the H.S.A. collects dues from each family to support various school activities in which all of our students participate. These activities include, but are not limited to, class parties, cultural arts programs, and Catholic Schools Week activities.

H.S.A. dues also allow the H.S.A. to show our appreciation to our teachers with, among other things, a holiday luncheon and end-of-year gifts.

Parents do not need to take any action to pay these dues. Rather, H.S.A. dues have been added to each family’s SMART account and your dues charge will appear in the billing details of your November payment.

H.S.A. Dues for the 2021-22 school year are

· $75 for 1 child enrolled

· $100 for 2 children enrolled

· $125 for 3+ children enrolled

COVID-19 Vaccination Reporting

The NJ Department of Health issued an Executive Directive and Updated Guidance for Schools on COVID-19 requiring all schools in the State to report weekly on COVID-19 cases and vaccination rates for staff and students. This information is submitted electronically and does not include any identifying information regarding students or staff, only the total number.

If you have made the decision to vaccinate your eligible child, please send proof of vaccination to Mrs. Underwood (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). This will help us to be accurate in fulfilling the NJDOH reporting requirement and will assist us in our consultation with the local health department concerning quarantine decisions should the need arise in your child’s classroom. As always, please be assured that all medical information is treated confidentially and held securely.

All parent volunteers are required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within the preceding week. Find out more about the requirements.
