1/21 Raven Rundown

COVID-19 public health guidance for K – 12 schools from the NJ Department of Health was updated.

The updated information is highlighted in the guidance document. The update is that now "exposed close contacts who are aged 12 and older who have completed the primary series of COVID vaccination but have not yet received a booster dose when eligible should quarantine if exposed to a COVID case in close contact."

To allow time for students aged 12-17 to receive a booster dose when eligible, SRLA will wait until February 1, 2022 to begin implementing this guideline. An individual is considered boosted and up-to-date with COVID vaccination once they have received a booster dose when eligible.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

The Book Fair Is Here!
The 2022 SRLA Scholastic Book Fair starts MONDAY in the gym!

Every year, students look forward to browsing the fair and its wide selection of favorite authors, popular series and much more. All purchases benefit the school, so please stop by and support us!

E-wallet will be returning this year to make book shopping even more convenient for your family! It's a great alternative to sending kids to school with cash. Set up your child's eWallet here.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to volunteer—please sign-up for a shift! Volunteers will be needed:
  • January 22: Book Fair setup, 4 pm
  • January 24 – 27: Students visit Book Fair/ Create wish lists/ Fulfill orders
  • January 26 – 27: Afterschool shopping hours, 3 – 4 pm
  • January 28: Book Fair ends/ Break down

Reminder: All volunteers need to have current Protecting God's Children certification and fulfill mandatory COVID vaccination/testing requirements.

Designer Bag BINGO

Donations will be accepted until Friday, January 28, and stay tuned for information about how to purchase tickets!

Please note there will be a limited number of tickets available.

Raven Nation Basketball
SRLA's weekly basketball schedule can be found here, and remember that you can catch all the action with livestreamed games for the 2021 – 2022 season!

And basketball families: We need your help! Please lend a hand at our home games by serving as scorekeeper, running the clock/scoreboard, or assisting with snack bar sales. There are many time slots available to volunteer at your child's game.

There are also a few slots left to donate items for the concession. Donated items may be dropped off with Danny or brought to home games and practices this week/weekend.

Thanks for your support. Go Ravens!

Catholic Schools Week
January 31 – February 4
There are some exciting things planned for this year's Catholic Schools Week!

Monday: Celebrating our Community
Students are asked to bring a new, clean, never-worn pair of socks to be donated to those less fortunate. And wear your favorite pajamas!
Tuesday: Celebrating our Own SRLA Students
To recognize our students and their amazing accomplishments, we honor you by exchanging one ice cream treat for one new, clean, never-worn, t-shirt! Dress in any “groovy" or "tie-dyed” attire you can pull together!
Wednesday: Celebrating our Nation
Please bring one toy or treat for a pet, and wear red, white, and blue (yes, jeans are blue). Eighth Graders should be dressed in their full winter uniform for their Pinning Ceremony!
Thursday: Celebrating Vocations
Please bring a $1.00 donation for the Monastery for the Dominican Sisters in Summit. Wear your favorite sports team’s gear or your favorite piece of SRLA Spirit wear!
Friday: School-wide Virtual Program
Classes will present a very special song/story about a saint their class has selected from around the world. Join in for Wear Red Day for the American Heart Association.
