Eighth graders Rolando Intal, Jake Ferguson, and Aiden Cramer created a coding game titled The Great Soop Escape Pt. 1. The game, inspired by CoolMath Games’ Fireboy and Watergirl, follows Banapple and Fred as they make their way to their respective portals.
The object of the game is for Banapple and Fred to reach their respective portals (Red for Banapple and Blue for Fred) through a number of obstacles. Obstacles include jumping walls, sliding, fitting through small spaces and speed racing. This game is based on teamwork. When they get to their respective portals, they can move to the next level together.
The characters for the game were developed initially when Rolando was in 5th grade. While working on Soop Snake, Jake helped Rolando with the game by adding some code. After, Jake approached Rolando with the idea of The Great Soop Escape Pt. 1. Aiden came along with ideas for the game.
Rolando would definitely like to have a career in programming. Jake is considering a career in programming and is interested in learning more about it. Aiden is interested more in marketing than designing.
